There several major fundamental flaws in this argument.ДЇirst is the 200 GFLOPS score that has never been confirmed, and in fact, there has been absolutely NO benchmarks comparing the 8-core cell to an actual i7 processor. I hear a lot of fuss about the i7 at 41 GFLOP (confirmed) versus the 8-core cell 200 GFLOP (not confirmed) and a 8-core processor can crunch numbers faster than 4 i7 physical processors. With that out of the way, we can start talking about the serious stuff: PC's vs PS3's.

Which brings me to another point, Sony didn't even bother to lower their prices until Activision made a stand for ps3 consumers! And lucky they did, because $400 > is completely ridiculous. Perhaps because the Microsoft was smart enough to market their consoles more affordably to their consumers. Till this day, there are more Xbox 360 users than PlayStation users. In fact, the difference between the games on the two consoles are usually small and nearly all games are equally as enjoyable on the Xbox 360. But is that really all it can do? The 8-cell processor capable of 200 GFLOPS (never confirmed, but stated by sony) versus a 3-core processor? I'm not impressed. Granted, a lot of games runs noticeably smoother and even sometimes with more eye candy. But to date, I have yet to see a game blows the x360-equivalent version out of the water. With all the hype about such a powerful processor, I was expecting the PlayStation 3 to out class the Xbox 360 games. With such a decent time frame, there has been countless opportunities for sony's console to shine and unveil the awesome potential of its 8-core processor. It's been more than five years since the initial release of the PlayStation 3, with thousands of games for the platform (not including the ps1, ps2, and older games). Most of these claims are based purely on a theoretical standpoint and anyone whose a computer engineer or taken a computer architecture class knows that a theoretical point means nothing if the result says otherwise.

However, there is no reputable and extensive benchmarks to back these claims. Others say that it is built for two different reasons, but this is really just avoiding the question if you ask me (I will explain why). In the majority of the forum threads, most people seem to believe that the ps3 will out perform the i7.

I've been hearing a lot lately about the ps3 out performing the i7 and some even talk about the pc emulator for the ps3 happening in a ridiculous 10-20 years.
